A friend of mine was on a service call working on a combine when he came across a R with a LP tank on it. The way he described it its sounds like a later R from the hood. He said the sheet metal was cut nice around the tank almost factory. Did they ever make one ? Thanks Jeff

LP Rs are not factory as far as I know, but there were some kits put on some. I bought one out of SC that had a kit intended for a Ford on it. Said Ford on the tag, at least. And the hood was all butchered up.

When I restored it, I put it back on gasoline.

The one that Doug mentions is pictured in one of the issues of "Implement and Tractor" back in 1951.It is a factory photo, so it's possibly an experimental model.

A few pictures of a prototype LP R.
