U302 brakes

After square baling this afternoon with my U302 super pulling a NH 276 and wagon on hills I've decided she needs a brake job. Mom was in the seat, me on the wagon. She got a little panicked. She's an experienced tractor driver, especially with mm's , but could have been dangerous. I put new seals behind the brakesca few years ago but the brakes were oil soaked. I cleaned them the best I could but not good enough. Should I have them hot tanked or buy new ones? Where the best place to buy them, Welters? Been getting by for now, but that was a pretty heavy load. Thanks

Although you can cook the oil out of riveted linings, being that it sounds like you are loading it to the point you need all the brakes you can get, I would recommend new linings.
Welters is one place. Wendell Everett is another. 740-922-3335. MMdel who posts on here probably either has them or can get them.

Seems like I have been into a few of these lately. I have purchased some bigger wagons so I have been freshening up the brakes on a few of the tractors.

I would take them apart and check everything over and look to see if your new seals are leaking. I have said some un-approved words when installing new seals on those. I have found that the National seals from the auto parts store and the seals Agco sells ( or used to ) were different.

I have noticed installing new brake discs makes a huge difference, as long as your sure they will stay dry. Otherwise your wasting your money if the gear oil is going to leak on them. If you really want the best you can do, go ahead and inspect the brake surface on the outer cover and the inner plate. Have a machine shop touch them up if they're pitted or worn.

Once you replace the discs, keep the oil off of them and get them properly adjusted you will think you have hydraulic brakes.

Just to add what Joe said, it might be worth replacing the small springs on the metal
brake plates as well. I think there are 3 per side.
