Zenith 124 1/2 T.O. Carb

I am trying to locate the jets for a Zenith Zenith 124 1/2 T.O. Carburetor.

My parts catalog says the following jets are to be installed

MM-TC Ford Model B
Compensator No. 23 No. 18
Venturi No. 24 No. 22
Idling Jet No. 12 No. 12
Cap Jet No. 23 No. 35
Main Jet No. 25 No. 19

I know the Ford Model B had the same Carb but most of the jets are smaller.

Any experience I have had with old Zenith carbs in removing them and put on a Marvel. Found
rebuild kits poor quality. KT had a Stromberg M1 in the beginning. Later they went to TTX.
Any KTA I have has TTX. Good chance there is a reason MM dropped the Zenith's. Only other
MM I have sever seen with Zenith is a 283 power unit and it is an oddball. I have one a
Long Model A and it has been nothing but grief.

I'm kinda curious what you are trying to do.

I'm not trying to muddy the water, but that looks a lot like the carb. on my JTU. My original carb. was broken through the throat and brazed back together. (Probably trying to loosen a stuck float with a hammer as some point.) I found that an early Case-maybe a CC-used a similar carburetor. I was able to find a Case carburetor on Ebay and swap my venturi and jets into it.

It ran o.k. at throttle but never idled very well. But then the Magneto was at 35 degrees so the timing was too early too.

Since the JTU was so much smaller than the KT I don't know if something like that is an option or not.

Well I will agree with Gary on having a schebler but as it sits right now, my tractor runs very nice on the Zenith Carb, and it preformed very nice on the dyno last weekend at the show.

What I am trying to do is get the tractor to run with out the quarter choke and burn kerosene. I used 3 Ford Model B carburetors as donor carbs, being told by many that they were the same carb. Since my carb was a pile of rust and scale when I started. The parts do fit and so does the rebuild kits from the Ford Garage or the Ford Barn.

I found a Zenith maintenance manual with the T.O. carburetor in it, and also cross referenced that to the KT parts catalog.

The venturi and jets I put in were for engines with 200 to 220 cid well our little KTA has 283 so that is why they call out the larger jets. Also the larger jets would accommodate kerosene better as well. So says the air flow tables in the manual.

Each jet in the Zenith is marked with a size that is in .05 mm increments, so says the Zenith manual with makes the main .95 mm (No. 19) on the Ford Model B Carb of if you want to be proper the 124 1/2 F Carb and 1.25mm(No. 25) on the Twin City Carb or 124 1/2 T.O.

At the show this past weekend, there was a KTA 99 numbers older from mine and it has an original Zenith on it and it purred very nicely, at the same show there was a JTS also with the Zenith carb and it ran like a top to while hauling bundle wagons.

So I think it can be done.

Well, since it sounds like you have some extra jets to play with and you know what size the holes are in the jets that you need, I would get some jewelers drills off Ebay and try drilling a set out.

p.s. I heard from a fellow who tried that on a Marvel-Schebler once, and drilled too large. He said he took a piece of lead shot, drove it in the hole and then drilled through the lead smaller, and it worked. I bet you could also solder up the hole and try again if necessary.
