m670 piston and rod orientation

I'm putting my 69 m670 super back together and I noticed the rods and pistons aren't labeled with "front", or direction arrows. My IT manual says rod orientation mark are pointed towards camshaft. Are they referring to the cylinder number, ie. 1, 2, 3, 4,? Does it not matter which way the pistons go? This is my first MM, and just want to be sure. Every other engine I've ever done has been clearly marked with front, so I didn't even bother to make a note of this when I disassembled the engine over a year ago. Thanks.

powertech84,
Molinegb is correct about the rod orientation. As for the pistons; I believe all MM pistons have no front or rear and are symmetrical. Only pistons with offset pins or weighted skirts need to be put in a particular direction. Offset piston pins normally create more problems than they solve anyway.
