Mackinaw bridge run.

Getting ready to cross

Guess I was lucky the group I was in had no stops like you had. Why do some insist on stopping and holding others up? Maybe there should be some guys along the route with hotshots to prod them along, and stop the sometimes large gaps at the receiving end..

What is the story on the bridge run? How long is it? Looks like a heck of a view!!

Is it a yearly club thing or something?

Why would anyone be stopping on the bridge? Wouldn't that wind the local law enforcement up?

I heard there were a-lot of breakdowns that caused the line to stop.
Actually my tractor broke down but that didn't take too long. We hooked up
an 880 Oliver to it and sailed along to the end.
For some reason going up to the crest of the run there were many break downs
coming down the other side there was no hold up.
The Owosso tractor parts organize this and do a very good job. This is a huge undertaking
and probably one of the largest tractor shows held at one time. No matter how much
you prepare for this you can't prepare enough. I will do it again next year and the old Minnie
will be running like a wrist watch.

Like everything else, when the "rules" aren't,or can't be enforced, every one suffers. Rules say this year 1966 or earlier (50 yrs old or older) NOT enforced , no stopping for photos etc...NOT enforced , people turning circles at far end for photo ops...NOT enforced. Was said that they would remedy the "gap" problem this year...even if it meant deleting some people. Bob and his team do a great job with this event. His generosity and friendliness is , unfortunately being taken advantage of. If it doesn't police itself better, it may come to an end. It's that ole "2%" thing again.

I suppose if tractor drivers are stopping to take photos, It should stop.
My wife took all of my pictures as a buddy rider. I was told the backups were due to
break downs. My cousin watched the first group come through and said almost a third were being towed.
This is a fantastic event for all tractor enthousist,

Hahaha!!! I saw that tractor with the home made topper, and even took a picture to show guys back home.
I was lucky enough to be in the first few hundred or so across, and had a nice ride. Yes, there were some delays getting to the top of the bridge, but smooth sailing afterwards for the most part. I am quite angry at the people who think the rules don't matter, or don't apply to them. They will be the ones ruining it for the rest of us. Bob has made it very clear, year after year, that tractors are to go 10 MPH, and to let no more than a couple tractor lengths gap get in between vehicles. If a tractor breaks down or quits, your supposed to hook the next tractor up to it, and others are supposed to go around. This BULL CRAP of people lolly gagging and putzing along, really pisses me off, and is the reason for all the delays. The Bridge Authority is not happy!
So, as much as I hate to think of it, I believe this crossing will be short lived, as too many people are taking advantage of Bob, and will ruin it for us all

I wonder if there's a way to black ball the guys that stop/slow down for no reason. Having trouble is one thing, but holding up the rest on purpose is very inconsiderate. Maybe there needs to be some cattle prods/hotshots along the route! Hate to see the event cancelled because of a few, would like to go again next year. Want to repeat the drive to the bridge again too, even if we do get a bit wet..

That's too bad, I guess my placement was in the back of the parade. number 1380 so
I didn't see too much of the backups. I know it was first gear
to the first structure then things broke loose. I know my tractor will
run along at 15 mph. Which is a good enjoyable speed.
