U one piece head

Have a U with single head. Can get head gasket to seal. Have always had water in oil. Been apart four times. Am getting ready to get another head. Never had one give any problems before. When I got tractor previous owner had said he had head planed. Should have clicked then that problem had already existed. Anyone know where the heads cracked if any? Or was there block issues?

Could it be your water pump seal letting the water into tne oil and not your head gasket? I have had this happen more than once.

Checked and weephole is open. Usually if it is plugged is when coolant goes into crankcase.Doesn't seem to matter if motor was warm or cold. Might seep a couple of cups a week. Could you see coolant seeping out of seal by looking through hand holes?

I recall one later U block the machine shop refused to bore because it looked like a crack bewtween the stud holes on one side.

Have you tried leaving the head off and filling the block level full as you can get it and let it sit? Have you looked down the pushrod holes for water/rusty pushrod when the head was off?

I can remember the first 2-block U I worked on I ended up putting permatex 2 around all the water jacket holes in the head gasket to keep water from running down the outside of the engine. But the heads and blocks had not been planed or machined in any way. I never worked it, just showed it some, I never saw a leak but it may have sprung a leak if ever really gotten hot.

I would try block off plates for the block water manifold and fill head and block with water and let sit for a while to isolate problem. You might have a crack in the water pump impeller house letting coolant into the crankcase? Just a couple ideas i had

Could you see coolant seeping out of seal by looking through hand holes? To answer your question I don't think so. With that much seeping out I still think it could be the water pump seal. It's wore if it is letting that much past. Water is probably going boath ways down in the oil and out the weep hole. But as others have said it could be the block or head.

Maybe you should pull the block and head and have a machine shop pressure check them? Then you know they are good. I know the later heads are well known for cracking in the ports. Hard to see when magnafluxed. But will always show up when pressure tested.

There's some good suggestions on here. If it's not too difficult, pull the oil pan off. Go to the auto parts store and rent a pressure test kit for a radiator. With water in the coolant system, pump it up to the appropriate pressure and then crawl underneath and start watching for water.
Believe me, it will start coming out and it will at least narrow down what cylinder area and what side of the block.

Took cover of waterpump. No pin in impeller. Stripped thread on impeller trying to remove. Will end up removing shaft. No first time trouble was in this area.
