Info needed on Avery V

I am hoping someone has some information on a Avery Model V with a Hercules 65 CI. Was told it is a 1950 model. From what I have read that Avery was bought out by M M in 1953 and the model V was just repainted with M M decals. This tractor has been sitting for around 25 years, inside a building. I pulled it out about a month ago and am going to try to get it running again. Someone replaced the distrubitor cap and put in new plugs and wires. They have it wired firing order 1 2 3 4. Should the firing order be 1 3 4 2? The plugs they put in it are Champion # HIOC. Is this the correct plug for this tractor? I had to replace the manifold and when one stud came out, antifreeze came out of the stud hole also. Would this be normal? No antifreeze in the intake or exhaust ports. Any info will be greatly appreciated.

firing order 1243 you'll also have to know which way the rotor turns.

Well, if antifreeze comes out the manifold bolt holes, you know you will have to put sealer on the bolt threads when you put it back. Lots of engines have bolt holes threaded into the water jacket. As long as the water stays put and you don't find any in the oil pan or in the manifold or in a cylinder, I wouldn't worry about it.

I always put J8C (Or was it CJ8? It was the long one.) in Mom's V) It will work with the H10C, and may have needed a hotter plug if it burned oil.

Thanks for your reply. So the firing order is 1 2 4 3 not 1 3 4 2 ? This is first time I have ever worked on a Hercules engine. Ever 4 cylinder I have worked on was 1 3 4 2. Thanks Larry

Yes 1243 is the right fireing order. Ithink the allis WD45 is that way roo. It doesn't seem right as most others are 1342. But it works.

Your serial #is stamped into the righthand frame rail near the clutch housing, something like 6V1234. Then we can tell the year also
