G1000 wheatland

Just wondering my G1000 seems to idle unevenly as if the governor is supper sensitive. Even at a higher RPM it does it but to a lessor degree.
Wonder if it is the pump or maybe injectors? Starts well and has plenty of power. Little to no smoke when pulling the 20 foot MM tiller.

I agree. The flexring is more that likely deteriorated. I would not run it much if at all until you get it checked out.

Thank you gentlemen for the information.

It sounds like a rebuild is in order for the injection pump. Not surprising for a 48 year old tractor. Only tires, batteries and belts have even been changed.

Guess I best arrange for some service on the pump.

Thank you again.

I would advise rebuilding the injectors while the pump is out. It's best to just get it all done and over with. If the pump is wore out, they probably are too. It is surprising how much better something will run with the pump and injectors gone through. Just did a 6060 Allis. Always thought it ran and started good, but wow what a difference! Injectors cost less to rebuild than the pump anyway. Usually about $50 each around here.

Just to add to what Chris said, when you do the injectors make sure to clean the bore
out at the end of the injector hole just at the edge of the cylinder. I had to weld a
drill bit on a small rod to clean them out on my G950. I think it was 5/16 size that I
used. Not sure if the G1000s are the same.

Now by using a 5/16 dill bit I am assuming you mean to clean the opening the tip of the injector passes through and enters the combustion changer. Not the area the copper washer seats to seal the injector to the head.

Am I correct?

Thanks for the advice

Yes, that is correct. The small bore just near the combustion chamber that the tip fits
in. If you have a few cylinders that burn oil that area gets caked up with "gook".

Just got a quote on an injector and pump over haul! Pump $1000 and each injector $150. This didn't address any issues with the energy cells that might come up.

Guess it will have to wait till I have finished the 2-105 overhaul.

Thank you for your comments and advice it is appreciated.

Shop around for a more reasonable price. That's pretty high in my opinion. Last Roosa I had rebuilt cost me $650 and it needed a replacement pump housing because it was broken at the mounting flange. Would have been about $550 otherwise. Injectors were around $50 each too.

Re: cost of repairs.

Not too many options around here for diesel servicing. Are you quoting US or Cdn $'s? Currently we have close to a 30% exchange rate and virtually all replacement parts come from the US.

However, I will check another more distant service center when the time comes to have it done. I am still overhauling the 2-105. The cost for servicing of the injects and pump for it is in the same ball park or slightly higher.

Thank you for the suggestion, I do appreciate it.

I agree on shopping around. My pump on the G950 was around $650 to 700 (had to have the head replaced) and all 6 injectors were almost $300. The quote might be a high estimate so they have everything covered. That does seem high to me as well.

I'm in Michigan so USD $ estimates. I"m not familiar with the 2-105 injection system but if it's a Roosa too then it should be about the same price range. The injectors
are probably different than the MM/Bosch type. I'd check around for new or rebuilt replacements instead of having yours rebuilt. EBay or maybe A&I might surprise you.

Sorry this is probably not the right form to mention the 2-105 but it has CAV injectors and pump. Very different from the G1000. Maybe because the G1000 is an old tractor and parts are not as available or called for as often it is more expensive. Just a thought.

I have ordered many parts out of the US through EBay. Still less expensive than in Canada and often not available here.

Thanks for the comments.
