G1000 injectors

Hello guys, thanks for adding me to the site.
I'm working on a G1000 Vista diesel. After installing the injectors, I've noticed that some are closer to the head than others. They were slightly difficult to install (due to the new orings I assume). I was afraid to pull them in too much via the studs, but maybe I shouldn't be afraid.
Can someone give me an accurate measurement of the gap between head and "stud ears". Maybe even a good close up picture would be helpful too, from top looking down.

I cannot give you an accurate measurement to go by sitting here at my work desk but they should end up with pretty close tot he same gap for all injectors. If you are seeing a significant difference in gaps that is likely an indication of some holes having an extra copper gasket at the inner end of the injector. The gaskets will sometimes stay in the head when the injector is pulled.

Thanks SW. I tried to tighten them some more tonight to see if they would pull in but they wouldn't. I'm going to pull some of them tomorrow. When I installed them it didn't look like there was a washer in there, plus the heads had went thru a stream cleaner system at an engine shop. Maybe there is on stuck.
I'll keep you posted. If anyone knows any exact measurement or install proceed let me know.

First I have had heads go through a hot tank and I still had to clean the injector bore and found that there was an old glass washer in the bore.

Second, I put injectors in one of my Super 670's and ended up with one injector about twice the clearance between the injector and the head. I removed it a checked everything out a couple times. I never did diagnose why and put it together. Been running it that way for a year now with no problems or evidence of blow by in the oil pan.

I pulled the three injectors today that I thought I had issues with. There was indeed an old washer left in two of them.
However that did not fix my real problem.
I did all of this because I'm getting water into the oil. I pulled the oil pan the other night and the water is leaking down in where the push rods go down and then coming out of the "cup" that rides on the cam.
I originally thought that water surrounded the injector tip, but I was incorrect.
I rented a pressure test kit and pressured it up, and I can hear it leaking. I plan to fill it with water and pressure it up to try to better find where the water is coming out.
I'm surprised and running out of ideas. Everything is new. Heads were "faced" as well as the cylinders. All new gaskets.
Joe Pro, do you do service calls? haha

Extreme care should be used when tightening the injector studs. They should be torqued to less than 20 ft pounds. Exceeding that value will cause the face of the nozzle to distort and can cause a miss (which I have experienced). Be sure that you have the appropriate washer thickness under the nozzle.
