PTO on a G705

Isnt the PTO on a G705 Independent? I had a guy tell me that there were only a few built that had independent PTO. I thought they all had independent PTO, he said most of them had live pto. Anyway can someone out there put this to rest so I can shut my brain off. I have tried looking it up in my books but didnt get far. Thanks

Live pto I thought was on the same clutch as the engine, you push the clutch in half way and the pto stops and then press all the way and the transmission clutch disengages. An independent pto has it own clutch, so you can stop the tractor by pressing the clutch in and the mower or baler operating by pto will continue to work. Maybe I am wrong so if I am somebody straighten me out.

G705 did not have live Pto. Possibly had the option of a clutch on the left bull pinion to stop the tractor and keep the Pto running.

There is a difference between a live PTO and an independent PTO.

The live PTO is driven from a shaft in the transmission. So when you disengage the transmission clutch, it stops. To make it live (PTO runs with tractor movement stopped)there is a hand clutch on the left bull pinion shaft/brake shaft. pulling the clutch lever disengages the bull pinion and stops movement of the tractor, but lets the PTO still be driven since the
transmission is still being driven by the motor clutch.

An independent PTO is exactly as it says. A shaft driven off of the clutch pressure plate goes back to the PTO clutch, and can be turned on and off at will. That shaft always turns if the engine is turning. It is totally independent of the transmission clutch.

Sooooo does the G705 have a live or independent pto? LOL LOL I was told they have a live pto and only a few were built with an independent pto.

The G705s had the regular pto as the U or G series. You stop put it in gear and go. It runs when the clutch is engaged, stop the clutch and it stops. They did have the option of the pto that was mouonted on the brake shaft. With that you engaged it like I mentioned and then you could pull the lever back which stopped the forward motion of the tractor but the pto still ran. That is the only pto options on the G705s.

To follow the semantics laid out below, a 705 had an optional live pto. Moline called it a Power Release clutch. Majority did not have this option, and many that did have it were disabled.

I went through this once before! There are FOUR type of industry PTO s.
STANDARD: You disengage the clutch engage the PTO lever and engage the clutch. Everything moves.
CONTINUOUS: You disengage the clutch engage the PTO lever and engage the clutch. Everything moves, if you need to slow up travel to let the machine catch up or to stop travel to make a bale ect. you disengage tho PTO clutch lever and slow or stop tractor travel.
LIVE: Is a dual stage clutch at the flywheel you disengage the clutch all the way. engage the PTO lever, engage the clutch. Every thing moves. If you want to slow up or stop or shift gears you disengage the clutch part way, the forward travel stops and the PTO stays live.
INDEPENDENT: As was stated separate shaft direct to the flywheel. Either tractor or PTO can be disengaged or engaged at any time fully independent. (Oliver invented and was first)
It is true in MM advertising. MM called the brake shaft disengagement live. But it was not. (The PTO did stay live but you could not shift gears)
