m.m. U valve lash.

just found my book and your settings are off. book says exhaust is .018 and intake is .010.

i just finished setting them to what my book said. and yes its the later model... 1953.

My U owners manual dated 1950 says the cold setting is .010 on the intake and .018 on the exhaust....After running up to operating temperature its .008 on the intake and .010 on the exhaust.....A previous owner wrote in pencil .012 on the intake and .014 for the exhaust on an LP tractor..

Just got back off my trip and looked to see if my memory is failing. IT IS NOT!! My M-M specific I-T manual shows .008 / .010 on ALL U series tractors except UTS special and UB Special. Those 2 models shows your settings; as well as the 165 / 206 engines. The later model ( 5-Star; M-5 ; M-602 etc....) shows .010 intake and .020 exhaust on gas engines with .018 exhaust on diesels. I was not incorrect on what I told you according to my I-T repair /service manual.

I don't get any connection to women.(wired comment) I was talking noisy tappets and smelling burnt valves.
