UTS with KE188 Engine / HC Head

I have MM-UTS with a KE188 engine and High Compression (HC) single head. What is the history of this engine? I noticed most of the UTS
tractors have double head engine. I tried researching and really found no history or information on that engine. I did find that parts and
gaskets may be difficult to find.

Thanks.

I think it was 1947 or 48 when they went to the two heads (two heads are better than one....lol just had to say it). From what I understand it was because of head gasket problems. Since there are a lot of places that reproduce gaskets now days, they can be found fairly reasonable.

The start of the U engine originates with the Twin City KT and MT tractors. They were designed back in the late 20's. The change to the two piece head was in 1947 and was a design that was in use on the larger FT tractor. The FT became the G Moline.

Any 1947 I have seen is single block and has mag. The single block dates back to 1930. The HC head came out in later thirties as replacement for original head. Original was for distillate and was 4.5 to 1 and HC was slighty higher at 6.
