is there supposed to be a flared fitting in the bottom of this pump? When I filled the pump with engine oil it ran out of this fitting so I capped it. Thanks

Sorry the pictures sideways but the cap plug is actually the bottom of the pump

There is a fitting on bottom of pump that has a filter membrane that holds oil and passes water? My guess.

Some older inline pumps had a leak off tube up inside that was used as an overflow vent. Any excess fuel internal leakage would come out this "drip tube" as needed to keep the pump from overfilling during use. Most Ford, David Brown, and Deutz used this system also.
