My grandpa's g900 gas got water down the stack last year and locked up. An overhaul is going to be expensive at best. I may be able to get a 2-150 white with rear end problems and a good engine. I've been told this will work but am wondering what problems Iwould run into. its nor for pulling just puttering around the farm. I would like to be able to restore it right again some day when it gets retired so I would prefer to avoid any permanent modifications.

You will have flywheel problems,as the 585 in a 2-150 is likely a one piece rear main seal design. You will need to find a one piece seal flywheel that will mate up to the G900 clutch and transmission .

Hope you are going to pull much. 900 reared won't handle a 585. 1870 or 955 also are too light in backend.
