mm 445 rough idle after a couple of minutes

hi all, I 'm not a mechanic. My tractor would start and run fine for a couple of minute then it would rough idle (sputter) up and down. I would recycle the engine and it still sputter but if I turn it off and wait until the engine completely cools, it would start and run fine for a couple of minutes and the problem continues. It would sputter quicker if I put the tractor under load. If I adjust choke when it sputter it would idle fine. Do I have to adjust the carburetor, if so how? Also it seems that the engine is losing its power, does not seem to have the same rev as it use to. 1956 mm 445.

Check to make sure you have a good steady supply of gas coming from the line before it enters the carburetor, sometimes rust or other debris can partially cover the tank hole where the line or filter connects. Then it will run ok until it uses up what's in the line then start to sputter or die. Blowing back through the line will usually open it for a while until you move. Adjusting the carburetor screws slowly in and out may free up something too if that's the problem. Then adjust to where it runs the best.

Clean the gas tank and remove all the debris from the fuel filter. Opened the drainage screw on the carburetor and got a 15 second of fuel drainage then it stopped. Is the normal or should there be a continuous gas flow?

Should be a continuous flow. Sounds like you're not getting enough fuel to the carb. Take the fuel line off at
the carb and trace back from there.

Take the fuel cap off and try again. Might not be getting air back into the tank and creating a vacuum.

Feel the carb throttle body for temperature, sounds to me like a classic case of carb ice. The ice starts to form on the nozzle and butterfly first, you can't see it. Most of those 206 engines have the problem.

problem solved. Found rocks and corks particles trapped inside the "in" side of the fuel filter. Also the cork fuel filter gasket was so old that most of it was trapped inside the "out" side of the fuel filter . Thanks all for your solutions. Was able to fine a replace fuel filter gasket at Oreilly auto part # 33943 but the filter itself was too large to fit inside the glass.
