G-450 value

An acquaintance of a friend is thinking about selling his G-450 4WH drive. Overall appearance is fair and supposed to be mechanically good. If its going to work on manure spreader duty when wet then it could use a set of front tires. No pics at this point in time and the tractor is buried in the back of the shed.

The 450 was actually built by Fiat. It is the same as the Oliver and Cockshut 1365. I have only found record of MM marketing this tractor one year. (1971). It is therefore a bit rare. That model Fiat was known for transmission isues. My dad has an Oliver version that will not stay in second or third gear. Been that way since he bought it 25 plus years ago. I have seen a couple of the MM advertised in the $3500 range. If I had one, I would not take that since it is a "one year wonder ".

On the transmission issues, Oliver had several bulletins to address those issues. Once you did as instructed those tractors were about bullet proof. Very good on fuel. If using for a loader you need the auxiliary hydraulic pump. I worked for an Oliver dealer and we had very few problems with both 3 and 4 cylinder models..

Since we are not a dealer: we got no bulletin. We have just used first and fourth in high and low range. All we have needed for our light use.

I'll post back if it looks like it is seriously going to sell. Right now there is supposed to be a couple of individuals that have been after it for a while. I know a guy who knows the owner and therefore I only have his description of the tractor versus having seen it myself.

I am having trouble enabling it. The wife who is the tech expert in the house will have to help me when she gets home tonight.

Very interesting and worth having, usable yes, collectible more so. Yes same as oliver and long many parts should be available. I would love to see pictures and I will add on the long ones they do not bring much money.

If I can then I will. Right now nothing has been promised in terms of seeing or buying. I am sure we have all been disappointed by people "thinking" that they "might sell" something and then do not. I hope I did not give the impression that I represent the owner in any way. We will have to see how the next few weeks play out. My gut feeling without knowing the owner is that the tractor will stay put.

That tractor is not to hard to get except in MM and Cockshutt!!! What I am saying is the serial # tag is probably worth almost as much as the tractor. Like cockshutt and oliver 60!!
