UB brake and clutch rebuild

Would someone advise how to clean up the metal parts that are between the brake and clutch disks. The mice had been living in this housing for the ten years it sat. Haven't been able to get the brake parts off the spine yet.

Thanks for the help.

Triangular files have always been my choice for deburring/cleaning up splined shafts just until the mating part will slide on & off smoothly. Am leery of using power tools, too easy to remove too much or in unnecessary area, possibly leaving a sloppy fit. The splined hub generally needs little or no attention.

When you slide the shaft out check the clearance on the seal and bearing.
This is a picture of mine that was wore out. I was unable to find a good
one and have now replaced it with a break.
