G900 Waterpump Change

Will the larger water pump from a newer or larger tractor fit my 900? I have a larger pump with a casting number of 10A18614. I can't find that number in a manual and I just don't know if this will bolt up without actually attempting it. Anybody know? My 900 has difficulty staying cool and I want to try this larger pump to see if it helps at all.

Curt, it is extremely common to replace your bushing type pump with the later ball bearing pump.

The side panel will need trimmed as well as some imagination used to connect the pump to the lower radio connection. I hare found flaring a piece of exhaust pipe will work the best.

Hey Joe, I have a Massey 97 and a 705MM and wondered how it could be that I never have any cooling issues with them even though those old timers use the same water pump. Just a glance at the IT manual I see that the capacity of the 705 cooling system is 12.5 gallons while that of the 900 is 8.25 gallons. That could account for some difference!

Early G1000 diesels used the G900 radiator. This was changed to a larger radiator in production but I think the G900 kept the smaller radiator. They also changed the water pump to the larger pump (not the later ball bearing pump though) at that time. I assume the radiator and water pump were changed at the time to improve cooling based on feedback from the early low band G1000 tractors.
