My 670 was built in May of ?69 and is the 43rd from last built for 1969. It has all electrical gauges even for the oil and charging circuits, no warning lights, plus still working electro-luminescent lighting, which is a little different than stated in the article. Those other dash changes must have been made when they went to the ?side console?, closed center hyds and sq fenders later in ?69? Although apparently my ampli-torque was changed to a 1.46 ratio, plus the flywheel and pto hub were also changed. Interesting stuff :)

Thanks Alan, it still sports the original paint yet. I have some newer pics I've posted before but can find 'em on the puter at the moment. I see your shop is done, have you worked on the 950 front end yet?

Brad

Brad,
Please post your serial number. Your tractor should have the Oliver type fenders and closed center hydraulics if it's a 1969 model. From your picture it does not have either.

Brad,
I suspect your M670 has had the transmission replaced if the serial number is in the 29904961 area (late 1969 production ~ 43 from the end) because all 1969 M670 production had closed center hydraulics, Oliver style flat top fenders and the updated electrical dash gauges and warning lights. I have a 1969 M670 built in February that exhibits the above characteristics. If you post the transmission and engine serial numbers I'd like to research your tractor a little further. BTW, you've got a very sharp tractor.

Thanks,
Brian Gonyea

Havent gotten that far yet lol. Working on building a welding table at the moment, then back to doing a few battery covers and some other parts. Have to also make some splitting stands for my M5 so I can get a clutch put in it. Also have to put a clutch in the G950.

I know I am going to deviate from the original post but...

I have seen bulletins where the old tele-flow systems can be re-fitted with the new closed center system.

I can not say that I have ever seen a M670 with the flat fenders and '69 up-grades without closed center hydraulics ( that had not been changed back). Nor have I seen a M670 with the CC hyd system on a a pre 69.

I do know they began putting the CC system on the G900's before the implemented the '69 changes on those. I have seen few dozen G900's with CC hydraulics and not the '69 upgrades yet.

Hi Brian, I'll have to get the other #s as I don't have them wrote down and handy. Serial is 29904961.

Brad

Brad,
I can't explain that one. I wonder if someone swapped out the rear end for a later model at one time but left everything else from an older model. Hopefully the engine serial number will shed some light on this one.

Brain I agree that it should have the 1969 upgrades but it sure look nice and original to have had a R&R reared job.

Okay so after looking at his photograph again I notice that the hydraulic pump has no paint on it??? We converted a 69 M670 from CC to open center. It was not much of a big deal.

I would like to see some more photos of this particular unit.

Well, now that I got everybody all worked up and scratching their heads, (lol) I evidently transposed the nine in the serial #, sorry guys. It should be a four. So 29904461 and eng 2950?474. I can't make out the missing number as the oil line to the dist has rubbed a smooth spot in the serial plate there. Have to call Mary Ann and get the right build sheet now too! But at least my questions about '69 models was answered about when the side console, cc hydr and Oliver sytle flat tops started, from the beginning of 1969. I have had this tractor for around 15+ yrs and we also have the G900D off this same guys farm and it's just as nice and original too. But I have also put elbow grease buffing and waxing them after we got 'em. The 900 we bought on his farm sale yrs later. This 670 gas he sold on the local consignment sale and bought a nice 670 super diesel on the same sale to replace the gasser. I don't know if he bought either of these new or not. I don't remember a MM dealer over in that area, about 20 miles east and the build sheets don't say where they shipped to either. Thanks guys!

Brad

Glad you figured it out. The digit you're missing in the engine number is a "4". I've seen several tractors with the same issue of the oil line rubbing the tag.
