Model E corn sheller

I bought this model E corn sheller at an auction this weekend by Colman, SD. Snagged it for 60 bucks. It was the only piece of MM equipment there and everything else seemed to be selling for dirt cheap. It's complete and in decent shape. It does need some sheet metal repair at the bottom of the grain elevator, etc. I'm planning on cleaning it up and getting it working again. It was a little hairy hauling it, but it made it home fine. I'll post some more pictures when I get home.

Also, if anyone has advice for getting an old corn sheller back in working condition I would be happy to hear it. Obviously I'm going to clean it all out and make sure everything is greased and lubricated

Looks like a nice sheller

If it were mine, I would grease and oil as indicated.

I would not try and get all functions running at first start up. I would disconnect the chains that drive the shelled elevator and cob stacker. The ear corn elevator is controlled by a flat belt. Leave it released. The long chain from top of ear elevator to the rear runs the drive for the drag system and there should be little stress on that until the drags are added.

Then I would get the main shaft running and add elevators one at a time. This will relieve stress on the overall system, and if something is binding or making strange noises you will know which section to check.

I didn't even think about disconnecting other functions like that! Thank you for the advice

If you are in SD, there is one at the show in Madison or Menno working quite often. The person that owns it has several brands of shellers and rotates them. I can give you a name and number if you need.

I'm actually near Marshall, MN. I have been to Madison for the tractor show but it's been awhile.

(quoted from post at 20:07:52 12/08/15) Good looking sheller. I have one to use and another for parts. Have a line on another one too.

Thanks! I hope I can use it. I hooked it up to the UTS and moved it out of the middle of the yard today
