needing to bore G900 blocks. I have read a few old post saying you could bore 451 blocks to accept standard 504 diesel pistons. has any one here done this. It seems to me that you would be taking a lot out of the cylinder walls. and would the piston pin be the same size.

Very commonly done.

G900 O/S pistons are a thing of the past.

Put G1000 std pistons in it. Pins are the same etc. No fuel pump modifications needed.

Thank you that is what I wanted to here. I will have to see what the machine work will coast. I am sure it will take a little more work to take that much out of the blocks

Alan, yes they will. It's about 6 one way half a dozen the other. The money you'd spend on buying 504 blocks and checked over would be more then having a good set of 451 blocks bored.

I put probably the last set of G900 oversized pistons on the planet in my last overhaul. Next time Wendell Everett has very nice G1000 pistons and that's what I will use. Going to 504 also increases cylinder head availibilty by about 100,000 times!
