Wondering what recommendations are out there for replacing fluid on a M670 Super I picked up from family. I am replacing the fluid and filter, the TA is a little slow to work in low, but seems fine in high...hoping a filter and fluid replacement helps. It had sit a lot the past three years.

If not, I would appreciate ideas for a good person to rebuild TA, never worked on one before.

Great tractor, used to drive it when visiting family as far back as a teenager from 1974 until I went into the USAF in 80. Couldn't be happier to have it in the collection, which is a working collection of many color on a small hay and cattle farm.

Thanks for the assist.

I don't believe there is a transmission filter on those. I think the book calls for 80w-90. Some have used lighter oil like hy-tran in them as well. If you plan on working it hard, I would think the heavier oil would be better. I have 80w-90 in my M670. Does it grab much in low range? Is there decent "snap" to the lever when you go into high range?

Use Straight 30wt in the engine. Low ash would be good for that, Case IH and others sell it. We just run a good 30wt diesel oil in our LPs.

Use ATF or power-steering fluid in the steering.

Change the hyd filter, it is under the left handed platform step. Fill with ATF, Dextron III.

There are two plugs to drain the rear-end, One drains the Torque and the other drains the trans and differential. If it wont see much winter work, you can fill with a good 80-90w gear lube. If it will see use in the winter fill with hy tran or equivelent. Also some people are mixing hy-tran and 80-90w but I haven't gave that a try yet.

Your torque should never be used on the low side right out of the gate. You need to give the oil time to warm up and splash up to lubricate the sprag bearing. Once it starts to slip in low, replacement is recommended so that you salvage the hub and bearings. Extended slippage can cause damage tot he hub and other components.
