KT and KTA Engine Numbers

What year did they change the engine numbers on the KT and KTA. My engine starts with a 377 model KE and a friends starts with a 537 Model KEA number.

Was this just a change up from the old Twin City Engines Numbers (Minneapolis Steel and Machinery) to the new Minneapolis Moline Power Implement Company Numbers

All motors were KEA. KT made into 1934 till serial number 302200.All models after were KTA. Motor numbers on KTA started with 526,529,530 etc depending on year. They were all in sequence.

These are the Engine Tag and Tractor Tag off my KTA, what you are saying about Engine Numbers that I may have an earlier engine that replaced the original engine?

Your KTA is a 1935. My 35 has serial number 303260 and motor 526498. Probably a KT motor left over or someone changed. No difference. My KT is a 1930 but has no serial tag. Appears like old style serial tag just after the MM/TC merger.

After pulling my book KE model engines was built. Yours is a 1935 year and the range on
that year was KE 37262 thru 377617 So your tractor was on the tail end of getting the KE
engine before it switched. Engine Numbers are as follows:

1929 375001 -375083
1930 375084 -376586
1931 376587 -376947
1932 376948 -376993
1933 376994 -377015
1934 377016 -377281
1935 377282 -377617

KE engines ran between years 1929 thru 1935 and the KEA engines 1930 thru 1938.

Did some more digging in old manuals. All tractors after 302714 used the KEA motor. Supplement A to parts list R739F notes Engine number 525401 and after have new cylinder heads, valves and pushrods. Rpm increased to 1150. This is where HC head was used. Carb and mag were changed according to serial. Some used Bosch u4 mag whereas later used RVM4. Carbs went fromm Stromberg to TTX to Zenith etc.Different breathers were also used. Some had the slide governor and others had same as U.

Yes I was looking in the manuals last night as well, so the difference it said in the 1935 dated parts book is the KEA had different head, Push rods.

It is nice to have a transition tractor.

I got book Lloyd McCray Book he had put out a years ago that covers MM, Oliver, Cletrac,
Cockshutt, and White. A very good book that covers pretty much everything on the tractors
and equipment I listed.

Ok, what is the title of the book?

Where can I get a copy of it?

or has it been out of print since the pilgrims arrived on Plymouth Rock.
