GB Rubber Propane Hose Question

I want to replace the rubber hoses on my MM GB. The hose coming off the regulator to the carb is about 1" inside diameter. The other hose is about 3/8" ID. Both hoses are about 10-inches long.

I was told that those hoses had to be a special hose. I went to a propane dealer who told me to just use regular automotive hose. Is this right? I thought propane would eat up a regular rubber line.

I also have the tank valves out of the tank. I was told to add something to the tank to absorb the moisture. I think Methanol. Does this sound right?

Any help would be appreciated.

The 3/8 hose is a vacuum line, so automotive hose is fine. I have also used automotive hose for the one inch hose which carries propane vapor to the carburator without negative consequences. You can use a bottle of HEAT in the fuel tank.

If you have a way you might purge the tank with vapor two or three times. I wouldn't bother with methanol for one thing I'm believe your vaporizer would keep it from freezing up and the methanol would be far worse on the rubber than propane.

99% rubbing alcohol in lpg tank every time it is opened up. The oil in propane will build up inside hose. Rubber will deteriorate over time. Replace every time you clean regulator.

Where do you find 99% rubbing alcohol? The best I found is 91% witch would have 9% water. I have never seen isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol recommended for propane. Methanol is used because it burns close to the same as propane. Even then only about 3 pints per 1000 gal. is recommended. I still believe there would be no benefit in a system with a heated vaporizer.
