power steering lines

I need to impose on you guys, to answer a question for me. Perhaps the answer is staring me in the face, but I can't see it! What I need to know, is where the two fluid lines connect to the Hydraulic unit.( power steering pressure, and return lines) The tractor is a 57 335 utility with amplitorque, and originally came with power steering, which was stripped off when I bought it.I have assembled a mounting bracket with a chrysler mini van rack& pinion power steering unit, and need to run lines to the units control valve. My IT manual showes the lines on the left side of the engine, and disapearing into the sheet metal under the gas tank. Where do they go from there? Do they cross the tranny, and get attatched to the hydraulics under the seat? IT manual doesn't mention power steering, when numbering, and explaining the port plugs, on the block under the seat. It has three ports for remotes, and a port for plugging in a test guage. Please help. If it's in the manual, then I couldn't find it. Ralph

I don't know if this helps, but on my 56 445 there is a flow divider mounted on the back of the pump, on the back of the tractor, and the line to the power steering comes off of it and the return line goes back into the Tel-O-Flo reservoir on the front of it. I would need to get out there in the daylight to see exactly where it goes in the reservoir.

Bryce! Thanks for getting back to me. I would imagine that the 445 is simular to the 335, judging from what I have read on this forum. Please let me know what you find, when you see your tractor. Thanks Ralph

Hello Ralph The power steering lines run from the steering valve at the front of the tractor. The pressure line connects to the hydraulic pump on the back. The return line connects to the tel flo hydraulic system beside the hydraulic oil filter. Going to try to send you a couple of pictures of my 335. DH

THANKS! DH I never would have looked behind of the tractor for the pressure port, if you and shinnery, had not told me. I was focused too far foreward. I might have found the return line port, but doubt it. You guys are a great resourse.

One of my 445s is identical to the pictures above and the other has a different hydraulic filter housing, only the lid comes off, and on it the return line makes a 90 deg. turn and attaches to the side of the filter housing. But it is in the same vicinity. Sorry it took so long to get back to you. They are only a few hundred numbers apart.

Also there is a piece of rubber line, about a foot long, in the middle of both lines. It is in the area where the main tractor clutch is. Hope this helps.

I have mm445 industrial also but my power steering does not work. I know definitely that my Tel-O-Flo does not work, but my pump in the back of the tractor does. Does anyone know if the Tel-O-Flo not working will also cause the power steering not work also?
