ZTU and RTU engine questions

I bought a complete but stuck 1939 Ztu earlier this year. I bought a not complete but recently overhauled 1942 Rtu this weekend with the intentions of putting the engine in the Ztu. I know the EE engine is only 165 cubic inches compared to the RE engines 185. While doing some research it sounds like this may not be possible do to the flywheel and clutch differences? Does anyone know for sure before i move forward. Anybody ever done a swap like and have any suggestions?

Put a Z engine in an R. Had to use R clutch. You're going the other way, I would think you cold go with the Z clutch and flywheel but that's just an opinion

If you don't use it on want to sell the tractor let me
know or if you do use it and have extra parts let me
know. I'm trying to restore an rtu and can never have
enough parts.

I probably replied to your previous post. Sorry to muddy the water. so much.

What you need to put the RT (EE) engine in the ZT tractor would be a flywheel from an early 206 engine. It should bolt right to the back of the EE crankshaft and then the lined plate on the ZT clutch with the external teeth should fit right into the internal tooth ring gear on the 206 flywheel. the flywheel could come either from a power unit or a ZA or ZB tractor.

The later 206 used in the 445, 4star, jetstar, Big MO, etc. has overhead valve heads and uses a different flywheel with a different ring gear for the starter (sometimes-with MM you never say never!) so I don't recommend you try to go that route.

I am pretty sure you can make everything else work, with the exception that the hose from the ZT air cleaner would be bigger than the EE carburetor inlet. And you can work around that somehow.

Why not just put top end of RTU on Z? That way it is original. As long as bottom end of Z is good everything will fit.

I think you are forgetting something. The longer stroke crank in the Z will push the R pistons out the top and into the valves.
