5 star with loose front end pedistal

Got a 5 star that has a loose front end. The obvious answer would be to tighten the bolts, but they promptly come loose and
cause the front end to move forward and back with bumps. Any easy fixes? Looks like a few of the bolts will thread thru the
casting, and could have a locknut put on the inside.

If it is a narrow front you are referring to, there is only one bolt that holds it in place. It is held in place by a dovetail fit with that bolt. Normally they wont come loose unless there is an excessive amount of play in the places it wedges in. I have had quite a time getting one knocked loose so they do wedge in good. Do you have a picture you can post?

Sorry its not the pedistal itself, on the dovetail, its the whole front - gearing unit and lower radiator casting.

Unless the holes are really wallard out. Use new bolts and a good dose of Locktite Red. Torque down good without stripping. Be sure to clean bolts and holes good with brake clean.
