I just aquired a ub. It is going to need a lot of help. I
have most of a late u parts tractor. I the engines are
the same but will the valve covers intake and the air
filter assembly from the u fit the ub? Probably the
first of a lot of questions. Thanks

I was looking at this on tractor data. That says a ub has live pto and disc brakes. This one looks like it has disc brakes but the pto looks just like the one in my utu. Is it live and if so how does one engage it?

Not all UBs had the live pto.

If yours has MM's version of live pto, it will have a clutch lever coming out of the left disk brake housing.
The clutch lever disconnected the left bull pinion from the differential, allwing the tractor to stop with the pto and all the gears in the transmission still turning.
