ZB fuel problems

I have a MM tractor that I got from a guy that was his dad's and has been sitting since the mid 90s. I took the carb off and cleaned it and the fuel tank was rinsed with phosphuric acid. With that said. I know there's some residual rust in fine particles and figured they would come out to the fuel bowl, but I was wrong... This thing will run great for a few minutes then run out of fuel. I can blow air back through the tank and get it to run great only for the crud to settle in the little 90degree fitting under the tank. I think this was a bad design since looking at it from the side view the fuel has to travel uphill to get to the carb.. Has anyone fought this before and has anyone out some kind of replacement fuel elbow that has something to keep it from picking up at the bottom of tank and maybe 1/4" above? I think that would solve my problem.

Thanks,
Shawn

Put a short piece of tubing in the elbow and let it stick up in the tank.

If it was me, I would coat the tank with Red Coat or something similar to stick the fine stuff down.

That fuel system works fine if you can deal with the rust problem. I have 2 ZBs.

I have also put a tube/screen up into the tank . I think some company actually makes a little screen for that. That works for me, but you still have a rusty tank. Cleaning it and lining it would be ideal. Brian
