GVI Water Pump ?

I'm rebuilding a GVI Water Pump. Is there supposed to be a small hole in the casting next to the grease zerk? Never seen this before so I though I should ask. When I shoot grease into the pump, a tiny stream of grease comes out of this hole.

Looks to me like a bleed hole to keep you from pushing the seal out by over greasing. Im just guessing though.

That is exactly why that hole is there.
