Im not sure if MM manuals have it, will have to look, but if you have a manual there should be a diagram on which cylinders will be on the proper stroke at the same time number one is so you can adjust them as well. I used to do that on the 3020s and 4020s. Im betting the exhaust is the first. Usually the outside ones were exhaust and the center two intake so one port takes care of both cylinders for the intake.
 
There are some exceptions but most are .010 intake and .012 exhaust hot engine (same as old Briggs & Stratton.
 
If you set a MM 6cyl engine at .010 and .012 you are going to be putting in new Exhaust valves unless you don.t run it. The latest MM spec for COLD .012 and.028 Warm .010 and .022 gas and LP.
Diesel .012 and .020, and Warm .010 and .018.

There is a huge difference in the size of valves between a B&S and a MM. A lot more metal to swell as it heats up.
