Are the inlet & outlet on a jet star tractor offset from center.look like it on picture

Yes, on the mufflers I am familiar with. The offset makes it possible to open the center section of the hood with the muffler installed. On Some models the oil fill is in the valve cover and also access to the distribuitor, not to mention that a tool box was available that could go under the hood if it wasn't original equipment.

I am thinking the 445s used a different muffler and the inlet made an S-bend, although the offset one will fit.
