Lp engine bogs down

My 900 lp bogs down when I open the throttle too fast. I open it slowly, it revs fine. Is the carb out of adjustment? The regulator faulty? I would like a couple of hints before I start adjusting...... Thanks!

Disconnect line at vaporizer. Open valve at tank if you get strong blast of LP. valves, line, and filter should be OK. The restriction is more than likely in the vaporizer. Gunk from the stink that is put in the fuel so you can smell it leaves a greasy residue that can block passage ways and restrict the movement of the diaphragm to function properly. Carefully remove the plate on the outside (hopefully the diaphragm will stick to the plate) If it does leave it intact but carefully feel around the lower portion. I have seen a lump of dirt accumulate to the bottom from dust that is drawn in through the vent hole. Hook your line back up, tun on the fuel, and press the lever, you should have a good flow of fuel passing through. Actually before you take it apart if you press the primer button with throttle wide open you should be able to hear a good flow of fuel passing through the the air cleaner. Or remove the air intake hose from the carb. VERY VERY seldom is anything wrong with the carb. If you can't get continuous flow through the vaporizer. You will have to disassemble it further. The blockage is usually in the passage where the hot water vaporizes the liquid.

Opened the vaporizer and cleaned out a lot of 'stink', seems to have good flow. Still hesitates and bogs down. Will change out the filtr, chances
are, it has never been changed anywy....

What brand of carb equipment? Could be Ensign, Century, or Impco. Each adjusts differently. Let us know and we can help you.

She has Century on her. The vaporizer is an H-5. It seems to be working properly. I swappedv carbs since the original had corrosion in it ( it bogged as well). I had to put diffrent heads on her. I am wonderingif the link between the carb and mixer needs adjusted....

First thing is to adjust the draglink on the carb. Loosen the lock nuts and adjust it in (closer together) until idle gets rough then back until it smooths out. that should be the correct carb adjustment. Make sure your dist advance is working too. Pushing primer button on converter should result in good fuel flow. Try that and let us know and we'll go from there.

I run mine (MM, Case & IH) 80% of the time on vapor--- only run on liquid above about 80 degrees---if too cold out it vaporizer starts to freeze on liquid and will baulk then. Try it on vapor and see --- comments on build up in vaporizer are correct --- some kits are available for gasket and other parts on vaporizer,

Got it fixed! Turns out the lever in the regulator was set at 3/4" instead of 5/8". so I bent it to the correct distance and now it runs great! Would not have figured it would be so simple....
