RTU rear main bearing

I have my tractor split right now. How do you get the rear main out? Does the plate holding it on from the rear come out with the crank still in?

There is a procedure in the manual whereby you 'can' get the rear main bearing shells out while the crank is in the block. (Provided you have the correct offset box end wrenches-I tried this once and it didn't work too well. But you try anything on a stuck engine) But you have to go in through the side cover.

But I expect most people pull the blocks/pistons/rods as an assembly and then remove the circle of bolts that hold the rear bearing carrier and then slide the crank, bearing and carrier out the back of the block.

Doesn't the EE engine use a roller bearing on both ends? If so, then you have to pull the flywheel & take the bearing/housing out.

It has an insert bearing. Got it out by turning the whole unit and removed the cap and insert.
