Oversize diesel pistons

Working on a complete rebuild of a 504 Diesel in one of my G1000 Vistas. This tractor has been sitting for probably 20 or 30 years. I was hoping the bores would clean up with a rigid hone but it looks like they are too far gone for that, and had already been bored .060 over by the original owner. Has anyone had good luck with anything bigger than that? Maybe like .080 over or even 4.75 pistons. It isn't something I'll be using every day.

I've been working with Charlie and am going to buy all of my gaskets and bearings from him and I know he has 4.75 pistons for gas engines but he was going to check around to see if he could find diesel ones. If I end up sleeving those blocks I will be buying standard pistons from him. First time working with him and he seems like a really great guy. I will definetly be buying more from him in the future.

It should not be too tough to find standard jugs. The M5 through M670 used the 4.625 diesel bore along with G705 through G1050. 336 and 504 power units should work too.

I just got in an engine that the guy was in the middle of putting back together when he lost interest. I believe the blocks are a fresh bore of .040 and there is a good set of used pistons to go with it. Give me a call if you like. (507)360-6748. Thanks, Mike
