Diesel in a zb ???

I am wondering if anyone has ever put a 206 diesel in a ZB??? And how hard are the 206 diesels to find? Or could you use the top end of a U302's diesel? I ask because I love to use my ZB but everything else we have is diesel and is a pain to haul another fuel to the field ... Plus I think it would be really cool lol any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

many moons ago i was at mm auction in indiana at a big red round barn varey large auction they sold
a zb with 206 dieael in it looked factrey i think he was mm dealer at one time i would like to put
one togreather to i would use it to

Might connect but where are you going to find a 206 or 302 diesel? Even if you did you will need deep pockets and patience to source parts. I have done two 206's and know what it involves. Stay with gas!

Are they that rare ? On 206 style motor you need a different head pistons the pump what else? Crankcase would be the same are the valve sizes different? Have never paid that close of attention to one before

having two ZBs, I have also thought about making an OHV gas version. The real sticker is there is no good (easy) way to get the water from the left side of the radiator to the water pump inlet on the right side of the engine. You can't just tap another outlet in the bottom tank, there is no cavity on the right side of the lower tank for it. I also don't know if a ZB radiator is even big enough capacity, it you are going to work it.

One other consideration is I don't know if the transmission could stand up to being worked behind a diesel engine. My JS3 was diesel and it beat the splines off of the pto shaft.

I pull a grain drill with it to plant wet holes .... So you would need custom radiator tanks on top and bottom and I know guys who put LP U302 motors in Zs to pull and run OK I'm just sowing some beans

Crankcase is different to accomodate much heavier starter and flywheel. Rods and piston pins heavier. Has no governor. Pistons are almost impossible to find. Secial block gaskets also required. I have some diesel motor parts and always lookng for more. For next project.

I attended the same sale and remember the tractor. Mr. Don Kingen of McCordsville, IN. When he passed away, family sold a lot of his collection.
