Steering wheel removal

I am trying to remove the steering wheel on my U302 during my restoration. I have been told not to use a puller due to the power steering pump under the wheel, and it being easy to damage. The current steering wheel seems stuck on the shaft pretty good. I think this has been discussed before, but does anyone have any suggestions?

If its really really stuck put a puller on it tighten it down as much as you can spray it with penetrating oil and let it set. Next day hit the end of tbe puller with a hammer as hard as you feel comfortable so as to not break anything tighten it and spray it with penetrating oil again. Repeat until it comes off.

The 4 P's; Patience, Pounding, Puller's, and Propane. Pull it, heat it up, tap it, pound on it, more heat, pull, leave it overnight, repeat. Day after day, one day she'll pop loose.
