MM670 replacement spindles

fix it right

New User
I replaced the bushings and spindles on my MM 670 Super. I bought the spindles from Yesterday's tractors. The MM parts manual shows different part numbers for the left and right side but the information shows one part number 11B23096 fits both the right and left sides. I installed the new spindles and bushings and the left side is as original but the right side when the steering lever is attached to the spindle is either too far out over the tire or if backed off one cog it is too far in. When turning right it goes over center and will not steer back to the left. I must be missing something as I know they must sell a lot of these.

I see the part numbers for the Supers are different than for the non-supers. Near as I can tell, YT doesn't sell a spindle for a Super. Any chance that's the problem? Any chance the steering arms left to right are switched? Would that help? Can the wheels be turned dish side out and have it work without making the tractor look stupid. Just throwing some things out there. Maybe have to get steering arms for a non-Super to go with your new spindles?

The only difference between the 670 and the 670 Supers is the spindle shaft dimension. The older 670s had a shaft size of 1.375" and the late Supers have a shaft size of 1.5" which is also used on the G1000. My original spindles are the same as the new ones in all aspects except the original right side clocking is different in that where there is a groove on the original there is a high tooth. This is used on the left side and works fine but causes a problem on the right side. The tractor is in the field right now and I am able to use it (careful not to turn too hard right) but when I can I am going to try to turn the steering link upside down and see what that does. Worse case is that I will have to take the original right side spindle to a machine shop and have it built up in the bushing area to the original dimension ($300). Thank you for your input and I am will look at different steering links.

Spindles can vary a lot, There was production of a more standard(normal) version, which is the most popular, and there was heavy duty version(used on mostly late models), and then who knows how many were changed with something else and adapted for use. The bottom line each and every spindle we sell needs to be measured from every way it can so we can determine what a particular tractor needs. By the way this applys to most any color tractor. you can do what i do when i ben a spindle my jet with a loader on they are only welded on the
bottom i grind the weld out and replace the shaft you can just turn it a bit

If possible, adjust your toe in, don't know what your tractor steering set up looks like but the toe in and toe out should have some kind of adjustment rod on it. Had to do that to a Case 2290 about a month ago when I replaced the right spindle.
