U 302 firing order

I need to know which cylinder on my U302 is cylinder 1 and how I figure out how that corresponds with the distributor cap. I know the firing order is 1342 but I don't know how to figure out cylinder 1 and where to go with the plug wire from there.
In case you can't tell I have no idea what I'm doing but can't get my tractor to start. I have put in new points, rotor, cap, plugs and now wires. I have drained the gas and put in new. Took off the carb and cleaned and put kit in but I think I have the wires messed up. Photos would be great.
Thanks
Tim

(quoted from post at 18:50:50 05/29/15) I will post a pic tomorrow. I just diagramed mine when I pulled it apart for paint.

Thanks a lot. I should have done that but I was so frustrated after working on it all day I just pulled them off.

Number one cylinder is closest to the radiator. You will probably need to pull the valve cover off to determine when it is ready to fire (both valves closed and rocker arms loose). Another way is to pull the no. 1 spark plug out and when the piston is coming up on compression it will be blowing air out the plug hole.

You can also open the timing window on the bell housing, when the mark for #1 TDC appears you have arrived. Flywheel is also calibrated for degrees of advance, that's where you point the timing light when making final adjustment.
