M5 steering hydraulic tie in

Hi all. Have a 1960 m5 with what looks like a Webster mounted pump on rear of tractor. This pump only is running the tractors main hydraulics(type e with charlynn valves). The lines to the steering control assembly(10A8325) were removed and capped by a previous owner. It then looks like they took the pressure feed off of the pump to the charlynn valves under the seat. I would like to get the power steering working again but am unsure how the tie in happened before as the steering is susposed to operate at a lower pressure. I and T shop manual is not very helpful in this instance but it does say that the steering was susposed get its pressure from the same system. Anybody have ideas or experience?

Normally the pump has a priority valve or pressure divider mounted on the back of it. The power steering runs off of it and then the rest of the flow goes to the tel-o-flow hydraulic system under the seat. I can possibly get a couple pictures off of one of the three around here and email them to you? If I can get a camera to work..

Pictures would be very helpful. I haven't seen another of this model since I bought it three years ago. The only other one that I know of within a hundred miles is owned by a non friendly person. Thanks for your reply.

First you need to know those early power steering systems did not work well. I modified my Jetstar to Eaton CharLynn torque generator system last winter. What a treat, just finished p1anting corn and beans with it and it was fun to drive finally. If you look back through this forum to March or so I posted some pictures of the mod. If you want to know more about how it was done come back to this forum and ask.
