Rescued M670 Propane

Just rescued an M670 Propane that had been sitting in field for 11 years. Tractor started and runs, but it will only move about a foot at a time. It did at one point pull enough to drive onto trailer. It seems to work better with the amplitorque forward. Is my problem in the amplitorque or do I need to look at something else? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Don

The Amplitorque lever forward is direct drive. Sounds like the low side of your amplitorque is out. You may be able to shift gears in the transmission easier when the A/T is in low but run it in direct until the oil is warmed up.

Being it has been sitting for some time, something you could try: With the tractor running and the foot clutch pushed in, have the ampli-torque in low range and let the clutch out slowly to see if it will catch and stay engaged.

You probably have an A/T problem, but after sitting that long, who knows. Could also be a clutch issue too. We do lots of these repairs/rebuilds, stock parts, etc. Too much typing for all the scenarios, call us @ 920 295 3278, Dale and Doug, River Dale Farms, riverdalefarmshop.com.

Thanks for all the responses. I rescued it so someone wouldn't take it for scrap. Sheet metal is rusty but straight. Don't know how deep in this I want to get, I'm basically a Farmall kind of guy,but I like most colors. Will probably find it a good home.

Are you certain it has been there for 11 years? I ask because I am looking for my families m 670 that was sold in Ohio in 2010.

Yah, the man that owned it died 11 years ago. I tried for three years before the widow would sell it. He had it for several years before he died.

What is the serial number? Is it a M-670 or a M-670 Super? the quick way to tell is a 1965 M-670 had a steering shaft that ran all the way down the left side to the front end, and Supers were hydrostatic steering. Except for a handful of tractors in '64 all non-Supers were built in '65.
