MM Prairie Gold 1 Paint

I went to my local PPG Paint store yesterday to get some Prairie Gold 1 paint. I gave them the early prairie gold PPG paint code DAR 60098X which can be found on many websites. The lady looked it up in the PPG national database and said it doesn't show up. Is there another PPG paint code that replaced DAR 60098X ???

Guy I get my paint from had trouble with the PPG number too. He mixed my Prairie Gold in a Nason paint, which I thought was a pretty good match. I can get you that code if you need it.

Thanks. I'm looking for the prairie gold 1 paint since it will be going on a pre 1940's tractor and would like to get it in PPG Concept DCC--a paint I particularly like.

A very, very nice looking UB by the way.

There seems to be some disagreement on when PG1 was used. Some say it was only used from '36 to '38 or '37 to 39' and others say it was used from '37 thru 1946. Indeed PG1 is a much more yellow color than PG2 and it oxidizes to nearly canary yellow. I am somewhat surprised that there is no immediate color match in PPG paint other than the DAR 60098X which apparently no longer exists. By now, I would have expected others to have already done a color match in PPG Concept DCC paint based on original samples.

For the writer above inquiring about a paint code for PG2, here's a mix that I had done about 12 years ago in PPG Concept. It is color matched to the Denison Auto Supply and Machine Shop (Denison, Ohio) PPG DAR Delstar Prairie Gold 2 paint.

Prairie Gold 2 in PPG Concept DCC

DMC900 (Strong White) 4.7/qt 18.8/gal
DMC906 (Medium C) 1277.7/qt 5110.8/gal
DMC907 (Yellow S) 153.2/qt 612.8/gal
DMC902 (Carbon B) 4.6/qt 18.4/gal

It's been many years since I purchased the paint and I do not know if the above tint colors are still available in the PPG system.
I painted a UB with it and it looks quite similar to the one in the photo above.

If required I have an original 1938 U and 39 and 40 Z. All never painted. To me they are PG2. What model are you painting? Have see KTA in yellow but PG1.

Talked to a friend that has owned 8 UDLx's.PG1 was the original. Most ownwer paint them PG2. So some recorded information is wrong.

8 UDLX's??? Now that's impressive!!!! Just owning one is a major accomplishment for many of us.

What paint brand and paint code did your friend use for the PG1 paint?

It is obvious that the PG1 is the holy grail of MM paint. I have a 1945 U and I would like to paint it PG1.

Also another thing, I have seen many with silver rims in the rear when did that start being standard, I know my rims are galvanized coated and there is remnants of red all over them.
