Fogging for Mosquitos MM style

Since the U302 it torn down waiting on paint I cut the pasture with the new to me Jetstar 3. First tractor I have bought sight unseen relying on sellers info and honesty. I guess newer top end means smoking and fouling a plug in cylinder #1 every 1/2 hr is normal. I cant leave it idling in the barn because is fills the barn with smoke pretty quickly. It runs nice and smooth until the plug fouls. Kind of frustrated, and pretty sure I won't buy another tractor without looking at it first. Just went through the motor of the 302....guess the Jet is next when the 302 is completely back together. Until then I have a pretty good mosquito fogging machine! Anyway I thought Alan might like some pics today.

Thanks for posting them. I have a good mosquito "net" around my G950 diesel. That is a nice looking rig you have there. I wouldn't mind one of those tractors myself.

You are going to like the 302 when its done. All of the yellow bodywork is painted and looks amazing. Need to get brown sprayed now. Who was it that posted the pics of the brown belly with FWA last year? Would like to get paint code he used for his brown.

That smoking hasn't anything on my 705 or my 97 Massey. It's a mystery to me why those old 504s carry on so. The 451 in my 900 starts in all weather, does not miss when started, does not smoke like a wet wood fire. The 504s smoke, knock and miss when started up and require ether usually even in summer. Once hot, they purr like kittens but until then, you wonder how MM ever sold one. My 705 has new rings, standard bore, rebuilt pump and injectors. My 97 is .060 over rebuilt pump and injectors. Both have had the heads redone. Could they have been this bad when they were on a dealer's lot? Seems unlikely or how could they ever sell one! Seems it has to be a compression issue but I sure don't know what I could have done differently.

Don't feel bad, I have a 670 Super (gas) that I just wanted to get running, so the engine is put together from almost whatever was on hand. Burns A LOT of oil, SMOKES and runs rough, but for light duty and loader work, is just fine....... (Although I wish I had spent the money to make it right....maybe later)

Those 504s like in our G-1000 Vistas ran perfect when they were new. I know that after they are overhauled sometimes they do that missing and popping when cold and it seems to last longer than the little roughness they might have done when new. I have done rings, injectors and head work too but they are slow to warm up and smooth out. I'm kind of wondering if it might be those energy cells acting up, the guys that do the heads usually don't mess with those, they are hard to get out on those old heads. You can get out the plugs and pull out the cups but what about the rest of it in there, they usually look burnt some to me.
Or maybe your right, compression issue, I guess we had one bored and put in 60 over pistons and rings and it ran perfect again for years and another we put on new standard blocks and pistons years ago and it ran great then too. Maybe they are just getting worn out again, ha LOL
