1000 pto shaft

Trying to hook my john Deere 1518 batwing up to my g-1000. It has the dual pto, and the batwing has the small 1000. Should just slide right on, and it does, but won't go on far enough for the balls to latch in the groove. It can't lack but just a hair. I polished everything up and lubed the heck out of it, but it won't go. Anybody else ever have this problem. Also the hydraulic system just barely has enough power to raise the one way cylinder, it has the vickers pump, and all new filters and oil. Can't find a pressure relief valve to adjust. Is this just normal?
Thanks
Shawn

I have ran into the same PTO shaft issue as you have. Moline for some dumb reason did not make the splines long enough on the 1000 PTO shaft. I'm guessing they are fine for 1970 era 1000 PTO shafts but the new stuff doesn't go. Finally got sick of not being able to use the 1000 PTO so we bought an extension shaft that fits. I believe it is A&I. It goes on the 1000 shaft and is short enough the balls will latch. Gives a new normal, long enough shaft to hook on to. As to the hydraulics I can't help you much. I have not messed with them enough. A good place to start would be hooking a pressure gauge to the hydraulic remote. It should put out around 2000 psi.

I kinda fixed the pto problem, I took my die grinder and ground off the first 1/4" of the splines inside the yoke, slipped on and worked perfect.
Now onto the next problem, got the batwing all unfolded, and let down but don't have enough hydraulic pressure to lift anything. Have to get a
gauge and go from there, it sounds like there is some sort of relief valve whining, coming from the valve body under the seat.
The 3 point works fine on my semi mounted plow, and the tail wheel cylinder didn't have any problems. So I'm guessing it's just wore out or low
on pressure.

I assume this is a G1000 vista with a closed center hyd system? There is a compensator on the back (bottom) of the hyd pump. You use a flat screw driver and adjust your pressure there. Adjust it up just enough to raise what you're trying to.

I have all the manuals, I finally got them out and started reading. Got a pressure gauge and checked it all out. We had to raise the psi up. It was
only at 1400 psi. We took it up to just under 2000 psi. It seemed to work setting in the shed. I guess I'll find out when it drys up. I think she is
just all wore out and needs a complete rebuild. Seems to me by 1966 they should have figured out a better hydraulic system. In my opinion it
lacks a lot. Compared to some of the other brands of tractor I have been around.
