G900 Oil to rockers

Hi Guys,

I am helping my neighbor put a G900 diesel back together. We got it running last week. But we do not get oil up to the 1&2 and 3&4 rockers. 5&6 rockers are oiling well. We have 40PSI of oil pressure. Do you guys have any suggestions. My neighbor got this from another guy in parts. Is there supposed to be a restiriction in one of the copper lines going to the rockers? Currently there is not. I was thinking the line to 5&6 was suposed to.

Thanks for the help.

I don't ever remember a restrictor, we always just pushed the copper back in the rocker shaft and attached the other end to the pipe. Did you take the copper line off the pipe on those front two? Maybe if it came in as parts like you said, were the pipes unscrewed from the block? Maybe some chunk of crap got in the block before it was screwed back in or the pipes could be plugged too. Could try blowing some air back down and see it they are open then start it again, that's probably what I'd try. Don't run it too long without giving them a shot of oil either, they can get dry real fast from friction.

When I put my M-602 engine back together when changing replacing the crank shaft and having the crank case totally tore down and pressure washing every which way and every passage and nook I found that the front lifter tube was pretty normal but the back Lifter Tube had unique brass fittings and there was basically a short piece of rod (1/4" x 2") assembled in the tube going up to the lifters. It seemed out of place and just something dropped in there by accident it was a thought to throw it away but since the donor engine had one in it also I put it back in and all the lifters seem to get oil.

Looking at the repair manual they list a Rod-Metering (part #10A18932) and Nut-with Orifice, pipe to rear rocker arm oil tube (Part#10A18933)Ref #27 but no picture. I don't understand all that but have a feeling this is what you may be missing. I was hoping people more knowledgeable would chime in. When all them parts are in a pile sometimes you end up with extra parts that don't seem to go anywhere.

Unscrew the copper lines from the top of the oil tube and start it for a second, see if oil comes out of all three tubes.

How far down did you guys have the engine? I am putting one back together now that has never been apart and there were not restrictors or orifices in the tubes going to the rockers. The first two tubes, the block is tapped for 1/4" pipe and the back hole is 1/8" pipe. I would have to look tonight in my service manual to see how the oil flows and that would help. Also are you checking your oil pressure with a "manual" gauge not the electric sender type gauge that this tractor came with. (or it could have just had an idiot light?)

We got it figured out after a call to the great people at Welters. We had the camshaft endplay inccorect. Once we got that set, it let the oil thru the hole in chamshaft up to the rocker arms. Thanks guys for the replies.
