Working on a Minneapolis Moline tractor which I was told was a 1939 model Z, but the serial # tag calls it and RE sn 48990 so not sure which to believe. I'm looking for a new magneto cap, intake/exhaust gasket and fan bearings. I'm new to shopping for parts for one of these and am having difficulty locating what I need. If anyone could point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated!

That is the engine model/SN. Model RE would be the engine for the Z tractors. Look on the other
side of the tractor on the trans/rear end casting for the tractor model and SN.

Thanks for the info! I will look for the tractor tag next time I'm by it . Any info on a good place to get engine parts for this machine?

That motor serial number shows previous to 1939. Most Z parts are all the same as well as R. Magneto cap will likely just be a Fairbanks Morse which is common. Sure you aren't missing a digit on motor number. Which side is the air breather on?

Welters in MO can and will supply what you need for parts, Lois usually answers the phone and is VERY knowlegable in the parts dept. 417-498-6496
