I'm looking to see how much interest there would be in a Overbore engine kit. Since trying to find oversized piston for Moline Side Valve Engines are about impossible. That the demand is High for Good used standard bore cylinder blocks. This kit will save a lot of headaches, time and phone calls.
It would allow for overhauls of that worn out or stuck engine with pitted cylinders. This revives the R and Z models making them run better than NEW having more Power and easier starting with higher compression.
The R tractors with EE engines will increase from 165cu.in. to 176cu.in.
The Zt tractors with RE engines will increase from 185cu.in. to 199cu.in
The Za and ZB tractors with the 206 engines will increase from 206cu.in to 221cu.in
The Kit would include 4 aluminum pistons with piston pins a 4 ring per piston ring set and a complete engine gasket set shipped any where in the U.S. for under $500. Let me know Thanks

I think I got mine from Welters but thats been awhile They are 3 3/4 for the 206. Really woke the old JTU up

Doesn't sound like a bad idea or price, but where can a person get the blocks bored? Some places wont touch them.

I put 3.75" M&W pistons in my ZA, back in the early 60's. I had the blocks bored at a machine shop in Ohio City, Ohio. I dont know if they are still there, but that was the only place that would do them at that time around here.

Those old side valve blocks are what is known as a blind cylinder, they are not open at the top end. Most automotive boring bars can't function. No problem most piston aircraft engines do not have removable cylinder heads so must be bored from the bottom end. Shops that can do aviation jugs can do Moline jugs. jack

mm-g706,
Oversize piston kits are readily available for the 186/206 side valve engines in twenty, forty, sixty, and 0.174 inch oversize. Gaskets are available right now individually, and in full sets. The 0.174" oversize kits will yield 227 cubic inches in a 206 engine without any modifications.

I am always glad to see another shop come on line to make parts for the Twin City and Minneapolis-Moline equipment. We need more people in this to make a greater diversity of parts. I personally like to make hypereutectic half skirt pistons and generally shun forged pistons. They just don't hold up, in my opinion. I make gaskets from Buna-N rubber because I like them instead of cork. If someone wants to make cork gaskets and forged pistons; so much the better. I do not make tin because I am too busy making drive line parts. Come on in, the water is fine.

If you need some basic guidance; just call the Floyd County Historical Society at 641-228-1099 and ask for Mary Ann. She will gladly sell you copies of original MM prints. It saves a lot of basic research and keeps those little tolerance problems from biting one in the butt.

I just ordered the prints for the wrist pin bushing and connecting rod to make new wrist pin bushings. I already have the piston pin print. My project is to draw up new prints for the #RE304B/#10A6536 bushing. I just started selling the #10A9105 bushing. and that will complete all of the MM pin bushings. There are always more needed parts than there is time.

Take care.

I have looked at Pistons that you carry. The 20,40,and 60 over are a waste of time and money unless I missed on your Site that you would take a 1/2 oz. of MM Gold Paint flake as payment for them. If I was going to spend over 175 efffing dollars a hole with out machine cost on a rebuild for pistons rings and gaskets I would want more power then factory rated. The 3.799 piston are great for pulling and that is it with only two top rings to keep the piston from slapping you will get faster wear and sooner rebuild no long life there, thats Not Molines modo. M&W had done the home work for us years ago with lots of run time on these engines that is why they offered the 3-3/4 for the best all around.

The last Update i seen on your Site was almost 4 years ago and doesn't work very well so quit smacking you fingers on the keyboard all the time trying to buffalo all the people that read this forum. just my two Abraham Lincolns.

Joe Leising,
I am home after six weekdays and I get home from work after eight on weekends. Calling during the day is generally a fifty fifty proposition to get me. If you email me with a time you want called; I will make the effort to call you then. I live in eastern time.
