MM U302 Super Flywheel Oil Seal Installation

I am not sure but I don't think a U302 has a wet clutch, so I would think any seal in that area would be attempting to keep oil in the crankcase. Maybe that will give you some insite on which way the seal fits.

Put the lip of the seal towards the front of the engine(crankshaft). You have to pound the seal into the retainer carefully. I assume that you are talking about he 5 ish inch diameter seal that is held in by 6x 1/4" screws?

Sir,
If you are talking about the #10A19803 oil seal located in the center of the flywheel; The lip goes in the direction facing the rear of the tractor.
Always apply white lithium lube to this seal as half of my customers burn the seal up by putting them in dry. It takes a while for the lube to splash up that far.

Take care.

Charlie is right, I forgot that the 302 has a pilot bearing rather then a bushing, the older tractors didn't have a pilot seal but the newer ones have a bearing and a seal.
