G1000 Parts/Availabilty/Cost?

There is a guy close to me with a G1000 he wanting to sell. It is complete and the metal is very good. Now the bad, it was running a silage blower last fall and the bottom end started knocking, he shut it off and has not been run since. I have never owned a MM and don't how hard parts are to find and how expensive it would be to overhaul it. Any help is appreciated!

Well parts shouldn't be a problem, it's the cost, say if it's a wheatland it won't bring what a vista will. Also is it a diesel or lp. Parts might not be to bad as far as price, I've never checked.

I would say you could spend $3000 on the engine pretty quick. Parts should be available both new and used. The parts interchange pretty easily. The engine can basically be taken apart 2 cylinders at a time. Keep us posted. We have about 6 G1000's. Located in Texas.

Any G1000 version is worth saving but if it is a regular G1000, to me its worth saving a little more so as there aren't a lot of them around anymore.

Thanks for the help, it is a diesel and he want 3,000 for it as is. It will run but knocks. Never been in a MM motor before, we have all IH and CaseIH equipment and but always liked the looks of the Moline's. Very few of them here in Ky.

Do you have any pictures of it you can post? If I remember correctly the G1000 should have the same style oil pan set up as other MMs. Maybe you wouldn't be allowed to do this before buying it but if so, you could drain the oil, remove the oil filter plate (right side of oil pan-6 bolts), remove the oil filter, then remove the steel canister behind it. That would allow you access to the lower portion of the engine, through about a 6" hole. Isnt a lot of room to look but it can be done. I was able to diagnose a bad rod bearing on an old U through one of the side plates on the motor. If you want you can send me an email and I can send you a diagram of what I am referring to.
