Will a G crank go in a U block?

Ya it will fit. The g and u use the same block. I
did this except I also used the g blocks which are
taller for the extra inch of stroke.

Just want to add that you will have to used the U flywheel because the starter hole in the G crankcase is farther from the crank centerline. You may have to use the U starter to work with the U flywheel. There may be an aftermarket gear reduction starter, I don't know for sure. I'm guessing you want to build a puller and usually they run more compression.

Also, If you use G blocks on that engine you have to get creative getting the return water manifold hooked back up to the radiator, because the G blocks are about 2" taller than the U blocks.
